Fur’s mission has always been to provide comfort and care for everyone: that means all skin types, all hair types, and all genders. With all that’s going on in the U.S. and the world in general, it’s more important than ever to take pride in yourself and your identity—but it’s also more important than ever to take care of yourself. So with that in mind, for this year’s Pride month we're celebrating a few incredible NYC based people in the LGBTQ+ community, and learning more about how they take care and take pride all year round.

Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Cherry Jaymes, and I'm a 21 year old trans woman who lives in NYC that uses she/her pronouns. I'm a voluptuous Virgo and an actress.

What’s your favorite song at the moment?

My favorite song right now is definitely "Do Me" by Kim Petras. It just offers a fun escape from your problems for 4 minutes. Pop can do that, you know?

What’s your go to skincare trick?

My go to skincare trick is to probably use ice water as a natural toner, as many toners can be really drying. I'm really oily, so I can't use both moisturizer and oil all the time or I'm shiny like a brand new hubcap!

What’s your go to haircare trick?

My go to hair trick is definitely castor oil hair masks. Can't get enough oils in my hair, contrary to my face.

What’s the one thing you used to do to your hair or skin when you were younger, but would never consider doing now?

I used to use a loofah to exfoliate! Not a shower poof or whatever, an actual loofah! Had to end that relationship though, things got a little abrasive.

Do you use hair as a form of expression? If so, how?

I totally use my hair to express myself! I mean, it's a different color every other week.

What does self-care mean to you, and how essential is it to your every day wellbeing?

Self care to me just means checking in with yourself every once in awhile. As we go through life we change so much and have a lot of needs; it's important to take a moment to re-access what those needs are. It's essential to the bare essence in your body that makes you, you!
