This post is part of an ongoing series called Fur We Love, where we focus on people's relationship to their hair and the routines they've built around haircare. This week, we talked to Calah Jones, founder of Kopan Studios, about haircare as self-reflection and leaning into just letting herself be.

What are some of your haircare and grooming routines for hair allover?

I am a super low maintenance / quick routine type of gal! I love using few products that actually work and are super quick and easy. One thing I’ve been really working on lately that has changed a lot for me in positive ways is staying consistent with the products I use and the days of the week that I do use them. Fur Oil is super perfect for me because it's so multipurpose, does the job, and smells refreshing.

What hairstyles make you feel the most confident?

Wearing my hair out in its fully natural state makes me most confident! I have curly hair so it's super fun and every time I do it, it has a totally different personality! I feel like my best self when my hair is out.

What's one trick that always works for you?

I never towel dry my hair! I always use a t-shirt to dry my hair. It keeps the moisture in your hair and eliminates frizz!

How has your relationship to your hair changed over time?

I've always had a love / hate relationship with my hair. Some days I want to cut it all off and other days I live for it haha. I've gotten into a more "just let it be" mindset lately—every day is a different hair day when you have curly hair and I've just grown to accept it.

What's one hairstyle or grooming style you had to try but are happy to have left behind?

Hair color, lol. I love to look at it but the maintenance is...crazy. I went completely blonde last summer and it took about a year to get my hair back normal and healthy! It was definitely extremely fun to do something so spontaneous though.

Do you have a hair icon or someone in your life you look to for inspiration?

I love Sophia Roe's hair and overall message.

What do you love the most about your hair?

I love doing my hair. It's a super relaxing space for me to reflect everything going on in life, listen to music, take my time and relax!
