    The Role: Fur is seeking a first-in-role Assistant Controller who can bring accounting expertise, analytical skills and business acumen to the role. A successful candidate must have deep knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), experience managing financial controls, and expertise in cross-functional collaboration. As a key member of our small finance team and direct report to the CFO, the Assistant Controller will manage the general ledger and play an essential role in maintaining Fur’s financials at the highest level. This is an ideal opportunity for someone excited to be a part of a growing business and eager to professionally develop with our team. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions and GL management utilizing Netsuite and connected applications
    • Create and maintain effective system of internal controls over financial processes and reporting; 
    • Prepare financial statements; Deliver key insights to the executive leadership team to inform decision making 
    • Partner with CFO in budgeting and forecasting process; Support in updating rolling forecasts cash flow projections, and other key financial models 
    • Manage the timely accumulation and consolidation of all financial data and accounting necessary for an accurate accounting of business results
    • Collaborate with cross-functional department leads to communicate results and ensure compliance with operational processes and procedures.
    • Assess and document current accounting operations and business performance metrics; Offer recommendations for improvement in processes and systems 
    • Conduct and supervise the search of technical accounting issues towards resolution; Oversee regulatory functions, including tax planning and compliance
    • Assist CFO in hiring, training, and retaining accounting staff
    • Other duties as assigned 


    Qualifications: 

    • 10+ years of Accounting/Finance experience with increasing responsibility; experience working in an early stage beauty, CPG, or direct-to-consumer environment, a plus
    • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and Netsuite
    • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining financial controls and processes
    • Exceptional analytical skills with proven ability to craft a data-driven strategy 
    • Knowledge of process improvement and implementation; previous experience with systems change and implementations
    • Tenacious researcher and problem solver
    • Ability to maintain confidential information
    • Strong business partner able to work effectively with all levels of internal and external contacts
    • Excellent organizational skills including accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail

    The Role: Focused on closing new business and cultivating meaningful business relationships with professional estheticians, the Account Coordinator, New York is a six month contract position with the opportunity to convert to full-time. By establishing new business connections and engaging in an intentional, revenue focused eventing strategy, this role contributes to Fur’s growth in an opportunity-rich market. 

    This dynamic position balances optimizing our work with key retail locations and making meaningful connections with our Fur Professionals community. Success in this role will be defined through new spa business closed (both opening orders and reorders through six months) and revenue generated through our retail and top spa/salon eventing strategy. The unique structure of this position provides an opportunity for a burgeoning professional interested in both deepening their experience with retail partners large and small and driving new business opportunities that position Fur as the product of choice for estheticians in their territory. 

    Key Responsibilities 

    New Business Development (55%)

    • Engage in prospecting and develop a pipeline of potential new spa business; qualify prospect list in partnership with Director, Field 
    • Conduct outreach to at least 10 prospects per week including digital outreach, leveraging social media, and engaging in direct, in-person connections 
    • Deliver presentations to qualified prospects that clearly communicate Fur’s value proposition, detail product benefits/claims, and move new business towards opening orders of at least $500 
    • Partner with Director, Field and Director, New Business Development, as appropriate, on larger accounts to ensure spas are being serviced both locally and corporately 

    Fur Professionals/Spa Business Support (40%) 

    Engage in call cycle for newly closed and existing spa business with the goal of deepening connections and driving ongoing reorders of at least $300 in value

    Work closely with spa businesses to identify opportunities for eventing, ongoing education, and spotlighting Fur to their clientele 

    Drive reorder growth and target expanding product offerings at current spa locations to deepen Fur’s market penetration in assigned territory 

    Ensure prompt follow up with existing business partners; provide high support and high service to spa locations as aligned with Fur’s four pillars

    • Retail Partner (Ulta) Servicing and Eventing (5%)
    • Service top Ulta doors on an as needed basis; maintain in store presence on high traffic days to drive sales 
    • Implement a remote Event in a Box (EIAB) strategy for Ulta doors outside of immediate, identified territory; work closely with Director, Field and Senior Manager, Retail Accounts to ensure collaboration and leverage Ulta corporate relationships towards successful eventing 
    • Manage and host in-store events with the goal of driving revenue and increasing brand awareness; conduct ongoing education with Ulta team members to foster knowledge about our products key claims and benefits 

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated 1+ years of new business development experience 
    • Understanding of how to identify, qualify and cultivate prospective partners; comfort with conducting outreach through a variety of channels (email, in-person, phone, social media) 
    • Knowledge of the beauty industry and strong understanding of body care products; professional esthetician experience, a plus
    • Experience working with Ulta, a plus
    • Ability to work at least one weekend day per week with modified days off 
    • Passion for Fur’s product offerings and alignment with Fur’s four pillars (expertise, efficacy, quality and inclusivity) 

    Compensation: $30/hour + Commission
